Cengiz Kara, MD, PhD

Senior Physician, Liv Hospital, Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic Professor of Pediatrics, Istinye University Medical School.

Dr. Cengiz Kara is a Senior Physician at Liv Hospital’s Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic. He is also a Professor of Pediatrics at Istinye University Medical School. Dr. Kara graduated from the University of Ankara, School of Medicine in 1991. In 1996, he completed his residency in Pediatrics at Dr. Sami Ulus Children’s Hospital (Ankara). Dr. Kara then completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Ankara in 2005. Since joining Ondokuz Mayıs University of Samsun in 2007 as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, along with his regular faculty responsibilities, Dr. Kara also completed a PhD program in Molecular Medicine at the Institute of Graduate Studies. His primary research interest is focused on the clinic and genetics of transient and permanent congenital hypothyroidism. His clinical interests are in disordered growth and puberty, obesity and thyroid disorders. Since 2017, he has been the deputy vice-president of the Turkish Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Association. Dr. Kara has organized and chaired a number of basic and advanced educational meetings for fellows and specialists of pediatric endocrinology, that have shaped clinical practice in Turkey.
